Dr John EatonI am a British UKCP-registered psychotherapist practicing since 1990. My favoured approaches include Acceptance & Commitment therapy, Solution-focused therapy and Brief therapy. I work with many different types of symptomatic states but specialise in Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, PTSD, Stress, Addictions, and Relationship problems. Practicing in Kintbury (Berkshire), Basingstoke and online worldwide.

Using Reverse Therapy I also work with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and other medically unexplained pain conditions.

My professional journey started out in Hypnotherapy in 1990. After that I acquired certifications in NLP therapy, Cognitive-Behaviour therapy, Focusing, Stress management, Brief Solution-focused therapy and Acceptance & Commitment therapy (ACT).

From 1993-1998 I worked on my doctoral thesis at Lancaster University, Department of Psychology. On the subject of persuasion and language in psychotherapy. Since 1990 I have delivered over 20,000 therapy hours to clients. While also training and supervising hundreds of other professionals in a variety of therapeutic approaches. Between 1998-2000 I also worked for the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Unit in the North-West London NHS Trust.

 

Current Interests

I am curious about a great many things, inside and outside psychotherapy. These interests change as time goes on, but here is a list of things that fascinate me the most right now:

When not working, studying and writing I like to walk or cycle up the Kennet-Avon Canal near my home in Kintbury. I play an awful lot of backgammon.
